MAGA Shutdown’s a Preview.
The worst is yet to come.
Eating is kind of important to humanity.
IN THE BEGINNING
White “Christian” Nationalists along with President Trump were quite open about their intentions to dismantle most of government. Their MAGAt supporters got on board with that without having a real good understanding about exactly what that meant or what they were voting for. Reading and understanding isn’t a high priority for them.
Now they know.
UNINTENDED CONSEQUENCES
The MAGA Republican shutdown does a great job of demonstrating what happens when the government of the United States ceases operations and things start grinding to a halt. It happened fast—and it only took a little over a month!
Supplemental food benefits (SNAP) became an issue for millions of people, including MAGA supporters almost immediately.
Then we saw air transportation impacted with delays and cancellations.
On top of that, millions of people are seeing the impact of MAGAt Republicans in Congress gutting the Affordable Care Act (ACA) and causing health insurance costs to skyrocket. Notices started showing up in the mail telling people that their costs were increasing.
The MAGAt population didn’t understand the impact that tariffs would have in raising costs, in spite of being educated about the downside to them. Because Trump’s tariffs raised costs, groceries have gotten more expensive and inflation continues to rise. Again, the effects were immediate.
But don’t worry. Be happy. President Puddin’ Brains (PPB), the guy that orchestrated the shutdown, says things are going great. This from a guy that eats pizza with a fork.
What’s happening is a small preview of the White “Christian” Nationalist (WCN) MAGA’s Project 2025 plan will do for America. Their One Big Beautiful Bill Act (OBBBA) that has already passed encompasses a portion of their goals including exactly what we’re seeing happening right now.
And we ain’t seen nothin’ yet!
This is just the tip of the iceberg.
CAUSE AND EFFECT
Non-corporate farmers got hit bad. Bankruptcies happened quickly too since so many were already on the financial cliff edge and the WCNs cancelled the grants and loans they received under the Biden Administration.
This isn’t a problem for Trump because the elite class like Secretary of the Treasury Scott Bessent can snap up the farmland.[1] Bessent said he understood farmer’s pain because he was a farmer.[2] I kid you not. Farmers rent land from him.
The worst damage to markets and our economy will be slower to materialize as will a lot of the really bad stuff of the OBBBA. The WCNs tearing everything apart have already learned some lessons about what the government accomplishes the hard way when they had to hire people back that they fired because of some critical function that the country and MAGA need.
It’s all the stuff that goes on behind the scenes that we as Americans benefit from without even knowing as we go about our daily lives. I can’t count the number of times that I’ve heard people say or write “I didn’t know the government made that possible.”
People don’t think about things the federal government provides and supports. Highways. Bridges. Clean water. Clean air. Support for agriculture. Workplace Safety. Education. Food. Economic markets. Our monetary system. National parks. Weather forecasting. The list is endless. It is exactly a government’s function to support their people.
MAGA objects to that. Until they were affected.
A NATION OF LAWS
America used to be a nation where laws and due process applied to everyone including immigrants. It was a part of our DNA. In one fell swoop Trump’s MAGA Supremes changed all that and placed one man, the president, above the law. That man uses his newfound power to place others above the law as he pardons MAGA supporter criminals on federal charges.
His Latino supporters, including ones that were undocumented, thought that Trump was only going to deport criminals in spite of Trump spouting the numbers that he was going to deport. They said he was joking or meant something else. They were foolish in supporting MAGA because they don’t vote. They quickly learned that they were less than nothing to Trump. MAGAts started deporting their friends and family members.
Trump’s Gestapo started rounding up brown people period. Men. Women. Children. Documented, undocumented, green card holders, foreign nationals, and citizens. Latinos that were here legally ended up in foreign countries and/or concentration camps. AND the WCNs running MAGA are building more! People are being kidnapped and disappeared off the streets just like countries living under dictatorships do.
We’re fortunate that only 20 have died so far in ICE custody this year. You have to go back to the 2004 Bush Administration when 32 died in a year for a higher number.[3]
Trump’s Gestapo wasn’t slowed down by the shutdown either. THEY GOT PAID! That’s how much MAGA prioritizes getting rid of brown people.[4] Chaos provides cover. Distraction provides cover.
