This post is by necessity going to be lengthy. I hope you’ll not only read it but think about it. Keep in mind while reading this post that millions of people are being talked about. Millions. Men, women, and children. Entire families in many cases. Hundreds of thousands of families and lives have already been destroyed. We haven’t seen a developing humanitarian crisis of this magnitude since WW2. We’re at the front end of the crisis.
READY FOR THE LONG HAUL?
NOTE: In referring to immigrants I’m going to use undocumented rather than illegal due to the Trump Administration removing the legal status from millions of immigrants that were here legally thereby making them criminals.
King/Fuhrer Trump says that we have 20 million immigrants that are going to be deported. Sometimes he says 15 million depending upon how his dementia affects his brain at any particular time when he’s making stuff up on the fly. The actual number of brown and yellow complexion people at risk of being detained and deported is more realistically in the 10 to 11 million range.[1]
Okay, please stay with me on this. Do your own math if you want. It isn’t complicated.
Choose the number of immigrants that you think are in America from 10 to 20 million.
Projections are for over a half-million people of color to be deported in 2026.[2] Divide the number of immigrants that you chose by 500,000 or even 600,000 since Trump’s fascist regime loves to inflate numbers.
Ten million brown immigrants deported at a 500,000 yearly rate would take 20 years to deport them all.
Trump’s 20 million immigrants’ figure at 700,000 immigrants deported a year would take 28.6 years to eliminate.
Hey! Just go wild and figure Trump will deport a million humans a year (An announced goal) and it’s still going to take 20 fucking years to accomplish and that’s not figuring in that immigrants will (God knows why) still be entering the country.[3] And when I say immigrants that’s code for people of color for the fascist Trump administration.
It took Nazis around 12 years to murder 6 million Jews and 5 million other humans for a total of 11 million humans.[4] Nazis didn’t start establishing termination/concentration camps until 1941. If you math that out it comes to around 900,000 men, women, and children murdered a year. Smaller numbers in the beginning. Huge numbers at the end.
Nazis were competent and efficient when it came to rounding up and murdering people—including their own people. The Trump administration demonstrates daily that they are at the other end of the competent and efficient spectrum.
OUT OF SIGHT. OUT OF MIND
MAGA’s currently building and acquiring “detention centers”. (Detention Centers sound so much better than concentration camps.) Trump is also getting foreign nations like El Salvador to take deportees.[5] Thanks to Trump’s MAGA Supremes deportees can be sent to countries not of their origin.[6]
At what cost?
ANTI-IMMIGRATION IS BIG BUSINESS
How many planes, trains, and automobiles is America going to need to get rid of millions of people? It’s a logistical and financial nightmare.
When I say financial, I don’t just mean the rounding up, imprisoning and deportation costs. Immigrants contribute and are a large part of our economy. In the last 30 years immigrants have contributed more than they have received to the tune of 1.2 TRILLION dollars.[7] The United States is already losing billions in consumer spending from immigrants.[8] More farmers and businesses are going bankrupt because they have lost their immigrant workers.[9]
Rounding people up and deporting them is expensive. The same goes for imprisoning political opposition in concentration camps. The Gestapo thugs necessary to round people up must be funded. Then there is transportation, internment, food, medical, equipment, etc. costs. The Nazis of WW2 seemingly weren’t concerned about costs. The MAGA Administration isn’t either as long as it means getting rid of “those people”.
People are already dying in ICE custody due to beatings and for lack of medical care.[10] And in ‘shades of Russia’ ICE is claiming that some of them committed suicide. (Hm, do you think Epstein committed suicide?) Substandard/unhealthy food is being provided at overcrowded detention centers.[11] Men, women, and children in custody are already being “lost” in MAGA’s system.
PRISONS ARE ALREADY OVERCROWED
MAGA plans a vast increase in prison camps. ICE currently has the capacity to house approximately 70,000 people of color.[12] The facilities they’re using are already overcrowded. The increase in ICE funding will boost holding capacity to 135,000 detention beds by 2029. That won’t be close to enough if MAGA wants to keep up their façade of doing their roundup humanely [13].
The average cost per year in prison is $40,000 to $50,000.[14] Costs per head vary from state to state. A red state like Arkansas costs around $20,000. A blue state like California has higher costs. Either way, incarceration is expensive.
Local jails charge the government for holding ICE detainees.[15] Local communities have increased their capacities beyond what they need just to get federal dollars for housing detainees. Their budgets become dependent upon that funding. The same is true for for-profit prisons. Private prisons are already a huge multi-billion-dollar business in America. In 2022 almost 80% of immigrants were detained in private prisons.[16] That number is higher now.
Their current stated goal is to have the capacity to hold 135,000 of those detainees at any given time. That would provide a stable prison population of brown people of that number in a year’s time. Using the $40,000 figure that adds up to almost $5.5 billion a year for a couple of decades, just for holding them, not counting the transportation costs of getting them in and out of the camps.
Like any dictator Trump wants any and all resistance silenced, including past presidents and politicians.[17] He’s directing the DOJ to do that very thing. Trump posts frantically about getting even with people. Jesus Christ! Trump wants to take away citizenship of Americans that he doesn’t like.[18]
Right now, we are nowhere near having the capacity to house 135,000 detainees. As of 2023, 90% of immigrants being held in this country are in for-profit detention centers, aka prisons. A contract for $1.2 billion dollars has been awarded to a company in Virginia to build and operate a detention center at Ft. Bliss, Texas.[20] It’s slated to have a capacity of 5,000. The company is tiny. A guy’s house was the address provided. This is just a drop in the bucket to what the cost will be as more concentration camps are built. There’s long-term big money to be had in immigration enforcement.
In 2016 the ICE agency got $10 billion in funding.[21] Now they’re getting $85 billion a year. That’s more money than all other federal law enforcement agencies combined. ICE is using that money to build a private army of thugs that answers only to the President who tells them they have complete immunity. The President that MAGA Supremes have placed above the law.
This is what MAGA Republicans want. It is the goal of the White Christian Nationalists pulling the strings. Trump is the current figurehead but it isn’t just Trump. It’s MAGAts.
They will cut off their nose to spite their face.[22]

How big a step is it for a regime to go from rounding up undocumented immigrants to grabbing up those that are a part of the resistance and political prisoners too? Oops! Trump is already doing that and wants more of it.
Look, MAGAts, King/Fuhrer Trump and his cabinet of cos-playing imbeciles haven’t crunched or considered these kinds of numbers. The White Christian Nationalists in charge of the country do know how to crunch these numbers if they haven’t already.
What do they plan on doing? Where is the nation heading? How close are we?
